Artificial intelligence is booming. And it’s no surprise that it offers businesses unprecedented capabilities – and it also poses certain challenges.
The recent launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT – an artificial intelligence tool available to everyone – has made one thing clear: Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly important role in our daily lives and work. Given the dynamic developments taking place in these new technologies, it’s important to leverage them for our own innovations, but it’s equally important to handle them with care and responsibility.
That’s why there needs to be a dedicated team to examine the questions that arise across all aspects of AI. This would include tasks such as developing, deploying, and governing AI solutions for businesses.
Many potential AI applications enable the development of new solutions for product and service portfolios, while also tapping into the potential for internal process optimization.
AI in the workplace
Internally, AI can be used to overcome existing challenges, such as in the quotation system. Because of the wide variety of models, types, or components, it can take up to several weeks for customers to receive a complete quotation. Using AI can reduce the waiting time to just a few hours, thereby reducing the burden on staff to handle more complex cases. Additionally, additional visual material can be added to the dynamic bid configuration system, such as videos and 3D models.
A system that consists of many different components, making it quite complex to configure bids. Use artificial intelligence to speed up the process in the future.
AI training certification promotes responsible use
But the AI team’s work is not limited to implementing specific practical applications: In addition to developing proprietary AI solutions, the AI department also drafts clear rules for the use of artificial intelligence and aligns them with the business strategy. This requires intensive communication with different departments to identify potential applications for AI and resolve any issues that arise. In particular, effective data management is of utmost importance. Together with the Information Management department, the AI department will develop a comprehensive data platform to optimize data governance, quality, and availability. To ensure that new technologies are used responsibly, a dedicated training course can be designed and implemented for the entire team. “AI Training Certification” enables employees from all departments to use tools appropriately, while identifying and mitigating risks associated with their applications.
AI is an executive priority
Although there is no legal framework governing AI to date, it is necessary to prepare for upcoming regulations such as the EU AI Act. There should be more discussions on this topic within the company’s senior management to maintain a regular dialogue on this issue with the Executive Board. In the future, it will become increasingly important to fully consider innovations and their impact, assess risks and potential, and take actions that are appropriate for the business.
